The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) of the University of Barcelona is pleased to announce the 9th ESSID (European Summer School on Industrial Dynamics) on “Agglomeration, Industries and Innovation” to be held in Barcelona.
The objective of the course is twofold: to offer an intensive training program for PhD students, and to provide young scholars with the opportunity to discuss their own ongoing research with leading researchers in the field in a relaxed and open atmosphere. Students will have the opportunity to present their research work at sessions attended both by the invited lecturers and by IEB researchers.

Activities
The courses will be held during the mornings and students’ presentations and the Workshops on research tools on Network analysis and Spatial analysis will take place in the afternoon.

Participants
PhD students from all over the world and young researchers who have finished their dissertation within the last two years.
Application procedure
Send your CV and a one-page description of the topic of your PhD dissertation to ieb.essid2009@ub.edu. Please attach an extended abstract of the paper that you intend to present (or preferably the entire paper). Only PDF files will be accepted. A letter of support from your PhD supervisor must be sent by post (see address below).
Fees and expenses
There is a registration fee of 400€, which covers documentation and working lunches. Travel and other expenses are not included. Further information (application form, schedule, reading list and program) will be available shortly at “http://www.ieb.ub.edu”.
Scholarship
Participants may apply for a scholarship covering the course fee and/or accommodation.
