We propose a theoretical model/framework for the analysis of the concomitant effects of structural changes in both production and consumption, on long run economic growth and income distribution. This paper analyses the co-evolution of science, technology and innovation policy and industrial structure in a small, resource-based economy (Norway). The contributions of the paper are threefold. The channels through which firms access and acquire new and relevant knowledge for their innovative activities is a critical issue for the geography and the management of innovation.  read more »

The paper investigates the diversified patterns of outsourcing in the Lombardy region. Based on a large firm-level survey, the work investigates extent, depth, regional embeddedness and degree of internationalisation of outsourcing processes, differentiating production, research and service activities. Fragmentation is remarkably wide and interests all industrial sectors to a similar extent.  read more »
